 THE PROJECT

The Riva Project offers work-based training for people with disabilities (including people with learning disabilities, physical and/or sensory impairments and mental health issues) or anyone who would benefit from independent living skills to gain employment. The Riva Project includes a café, charity shop and garden in which people can learn about retail, catering, horticultural and customer service skills, along with other essential life skills. The project is open to the public so that students can practice their skills by interacting with the public and gain skills in customer service.

The truth about mental health

There are around 700,000 people in the UK living with autism - that's more than 1 in 100.

At least one in three autistic adults are experiencing severe mental health difficulties due to a lack of support.

Lack of understanding can make it difficult for people on the autism spectrum to have their condition recognised and to access the support they need. Misconceptions can lead to some autistic people feeling isolated and alone.

People with mental health problems have the highest ‘want to work’ rate of any disability group

Discrimination against people with mental health problems is still widespread.

All staff and volunteers are commited to providing the best support for our students and ensure that all students enjoy their time here and learn a range of new skills to help reduce the stigma around autism and mental health.

We push students to meet their highest potential as they are often suprised with what they achieve.
